AFSCME
Council 26 sent letters to the Washington,
DC-area House of
Representatives delegation which stated: ”
…we urge you to reject proposals
that would increase federal employees’
contributions to their retirement system
that are being discussed as part of debt limit
negotiations. We have heard
reports that members of both parties have
agreed to this in concept, though a
specific amount has yet to be chosen. The most
extreme proposal would represent
a reduction in employees’ salaries of over five
percent.” To read this letter, click
